possible virus?

Hello,

We think there is a virus on our computer. When trying to get a video watching program (VLC), I think I accidentally downloaded something that has a virus in it. When we try to go onto our internet homepage on Google Chrome or Internet Explorer, our regular home screen (google, with quick link options) does not come up anymore. For a while it was something called 'istart...' that was coming up. Now it goes directly to a site that has the web address of: www.trovi.com....

I think it also automatically downloaded some spyware or virus protection programs. I can't remember the names of them, as we have deleted them in an attempt to rid our computer of this virus.

Not really sure what to do, as we have tried everything that we know of. Any help will be much appreciated.

Our computer is an Asus transformer book, with Windows 8 operating system. Is there any other information that you need?

Thanks, in advance, for the help.

I Might Have A Virus ?

Recently I tried to buy something online but my card kept declining and the website(which is trusted-future shop) kept redirecting me to a verified visa site? My bank company called me this morning to let me know someone tried to use my credit card to buy 1000s of dollars worth of items but it was quickly denied, thank God. I'm really worried that my computer is being monitored or watched right now and someone is watching what I am doing and stealing my personal information...I just don't feel safe at all using my mac and I have been using Avast Mac Security to scan my systems but it says my computer is fine? HELP please!:(

My debit card has been used without my knowledge, please help me to secure my system.

Hi,

Found out this morning that my card has been used in another country without my permission. Only a few tester payments and the bank have refunded my money and issued another card, so it's no big deal other than the inconvenience.

But I have been doing a lot of online shopping for Christmas so am worried I might have a keylogger. I've run a virus scan with Windows Defender and a scan with Spybot and it didn't come up with anything serious, is there anything else I should do to make sure I'm not infected?

Thanks for your help! Here's the SysInfo log:

Click on this link to download : ADWCleaner Click on ONE of the Two Blue Download Now buttons That have a blue arrow beside them and save it to your desktop. Do not click on any links in the top Advert.

See the screenshot where the proper download buttons are highlighted

NOTE: If using Internet Explorer and you get an alert that stops the program downloading click on Tools > Smartscreen Filter > Turn off Smartscreen Filter then click on OK in the box that opens. Then click on the link again.

Close your browser and double click on this icon on your desktop:

You will then see the screen below, click on the Scan button (as indicated), accept any prompts that appear and allow it to run, it may take several minutes to complete, when it is done, you will get a message saying "PENDING" , Ignore that & click on the Clean button, accept any prompts that appear and allow the system to reboot. You will then be presented with the report, Copy & Paste it into your next post.
Please note: the newer versions of Adwcleaner have a pretty colour display on some versions of windows and slightly different icons. The screenshots are from the older version but are basically the same

eddie5659, once again thanks for the reply and for the help. I downloaded "fixlist.txt" but when I opened it, the following resulted:

I deleted the three programs that you suggested that I delete and so I am not sure where the IObit stuff comes from. (Also, the curser seems to have a mind of its own and jumps around inserting text at will. I think that my computer may need an exorcist. :~) Thanks again for the help with these problems.

Get an elevated command prompt once again. At the elevated prompt copy and paste the following:

findstr /c:"SR" %wndir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >"%userprofile%\desktop\sfcdetails.txt"

Please post the sfcdetails.txt that will be produced on your desktop.
