Hello and welcome to TSG,

Use the instructions in the following link to show hidden files:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...es-in-windows/

Next,

Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system (32 bit or 64 bit). If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Post those logs in your next reply....

Thanks,

Kevin.

Pop ups Page redirects Problem

Hi there you all.
I have got some pretty bad Malware or a Virus. I've tried everything to get rid of the problem. I checked the startup folder, checked Programs and Features, ran Malwarebytes three times, ran SuperAnti-Spyware twice, ran AVG numerous times, reset Chrome to default, checked all the extentions, and then I noticed these folders in my (C:) Programs (86). I don't know how these got here. I did visit KickAss Torrents a few times.
Can someone please help me get rid of these annoying pop-ups and page redirections? I can't stand it. One of these times I may accidentally cllick on the page that comes up and I'm afraid of what that will do. It won't let me upload attachmentrs

Thank you, Deana

I woke up and could not get in to my computer!

Hello,
About 6 days ago I woke up I tried to log on in to my computer, somhow something erased my user name and passwod. a very reliable computer that I have 5 years and nothing ever hapen to it. I had no option other than
erase everything so I get the wndows software and installed again and it worked, I log on with a new user name and password so I started to surf the net and it was horrible, pop ups coming from everywhere and whole pages also specialy from firefox browser. Because I had no security in my computer and I could not get it because I was afraid they steal my identity so I started to look for software on a trial bases and found Norton have that option so I downloaded Morton, I scanned for viruses and oh man the software found around
80 viruses and malware in the system, my computer was infested, pages with audio out of nowhere telling me to call to solve my problem but I called nobody because they were luring me to call to steal my identity like I said before it was horrible, late in the day I scanned my computer again and norton found more threads.
It was like that for the folloing 5 days I even use the Microsot scanners and they found some more so I had to do something different, I removed firefox browser from the system and I ugraded to internet browser 11 and more or less the problem is fading away but I know that there still something luring in the system because everytime I log on right away a black window comes up and a message saying windows cannot findC:users\name\appdata \local\browser extensions\client.exe so I need help! Help Please!

Hiya and welcome to Tech Support Guy :)

Are you still having this problem? If so, lets see if there is anything causing the issues. Can you run the following for me, and post the logs they create:

Download Security Check from here.
  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Download OTL to your Desktop

(Vista or Win 7 => right click and Run As Administrator)
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Standard Output.
  • At the top, check the box entitled Scan All Users
  • Toward the bottom, check:
    All Users
    LOP Check
    Purity Check
  • Under the Standard Registry box change it to All
Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so.
  • Please copy the text in the code box below and paste it in the Custom Scans/Fixes box in OTL:

    Code:

  • Click the Run Scan button. The scan wont take long.
A black box will appear, this is part of the custom scan, so don't be alarmed ;)
IF OTL SAYS 'NOT RESPONDING' DON'T USE THE MOUSE. IT WILL CARRY ON SCANNING AFTER A FEW MINUTES

  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
  • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time and post them in your topic

I think that my Chrome browser has been infected: occasionally when I initiate a popup the url points to http://unitspybookukset.org/ which contains this: gzip e7hzbzqvfn== ONLY, and this then goes on to render a variety of advertising sites.

I have removed all extensions from chrome, have run Malwarebytes and AVG antivirus scans finding no threats.

How to proceed from here?

Probable Hidden Firewall, need help badly

Hi FlounderHawk,

Welcome to Tech Support Guy. My name is dbreeze and I'll be helping you with this problem. Before I get into the removal of malware / correction of your problem, I need you to be aware of the following:
  • Please read all of my response through at least once before attempting to follow the procedures described.I would recommend printing them out, if you can, as you can check off each step as you complete it. Also, as some of the cleaning may be done in Safe Mode and there will be no internet connection then, you will find that having the steps printed for reference speeds the cleaning process along. If there's anything you don't understand or isn't totally clear to you, please come back to me for clarification before you start those steps.
  • All of the assistants and staff at Tech Support Guy are here on a volunteer basis; please respect our time given to the cause of helping others. If you are going to be away for more than 4 days, please let me know here. (I will do the same for you.) We do realize that 'life happens' and situations arise unexpectedly; we just ask that you keep us up to date.
  • Malware removal is a complex, multiple step process; please stay with me on this thread (don't start another thread) until I declare that your logs are clean and you are good to go. The absence of apparent issues does not mean your system is clean; I will tell you when everything looks good for you to go and help you remove the tools we have used.
  • If any of the security programs on your system should give any warnings about the software tools I ask you to download and use, please do not be alarmed. All of the tools I will have you use are safe to use (as instructed) and malware free.
  • While we strive to disrupt your system as little as possible, things happen. If you can, it would be best to back up your personal files now (if you do not already have a backup). You can store these on a CD/DVD, USB drive or stick, anywhere but on your same system. This will save you from possible anguish later if something unforeseen happens.
  • Please do not run any other tools or scanners than what I ask you to.Some of the openly available software made for malware removal can make changes to your system that interfere with the cleaning of the malware, or even destroy your system. I will use only what the situation calls for and direct you in the proper use of that software.
  • Please do not attach any log files to your replies unless I specifically ask you.Instead please copy and paste so as to include the log in your reply. You can do this in separate posts if it's easier for you.

    - Save ALL Tools to your Desktop-
All the tools that I will have you download should be placed on the desktop unless otherwise stated. If you are familiar with how to save files to the desktop then you can skip this step.

Since you are continuing with this step then I assume you are unfamiliar with saving files to your desktop. As a result it's easiest if you configure your browser(s) to download any tools to the desktop by default. Please use the appropriate instructions below depending on the browser you are using.
Google Chrome - Click the "Customize and control Google Chrome" button in the upper right-corner of the browser. Choose Settings. at the bottom of the screen click the
"Show advanced settings..." link. Scroll down to find the Downloads section and click the Change... button. Select your desktop and click OK.
Mozilla Firefox - Click the "Open Menu" button in the upper right-corner of the browser. Choose Options. In the downloads section, click the Browse button, click on the Desktop folder
and the click the "Select Folder" button. Click OK to get out of the Options menu.
Internet Explorer - Click the Tools menu in the upper right-corner of the browser. Select View downloads. Select the Options link in the lower left of the window. Click Browse and
select the Desktop and then choose the Select Folder button. Click OK to get out of the download options screen and then click Close to get out of the View Downloads screen.
NOTE: IE8 Does not support changing download locations in this manner. You will need to download the tool(s) to the default folder, usually Downloads, then copy them to the desktop.
Let's get started....

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool 64bit and save it to your Desktop.
  • Right click the FRST file on your desktop and select "Run as Administrator..." (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File). When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • If an update is available, the program will inform you and download the update. Allow it do this please.
  • Once the tool shows "The tool is ready to use." message, please press the Scan button.
  • It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Please copy and paste log back here.
  • The first time the tool is run it generates another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST.exe/FRST64.exe). Please also paste that along with the FRST.txt into your reply.

Windows 7 shutdown dilema

Hi I read a question which mirrors a problem I have with my pc laptop windows 7. It is to do with "background program ' that "is preventing shutdown"
This is your response but I wasn't able to see the outcome.

It seems 94F11419-869E-47aa-9563-F48591285CAD is related to YCMMirage.exe, which is part of webcam software - usually CyberLink YouCam.
Is CyberLink installed on your machine?

Can I pick up the string and/or can you tell me if I have a problem?
My computer also runs slowly and often closes down for no reason. I also get a lot of " web page is not responding"

cheers

Computer being slowed by virus/malware?

Regarding security, this is my own set up for Windows 8.1....

My own set up for Windows 8.1 is fairly straightforward, I use the resident Firewall also Windows Defender and Malwarebytes Premium. The premium version of malwarebytes has auto updates and the all important "realtime" protection
Defender (installed with Windows 8 & 8.1) does have AV components so is very similar to Microsoft Security Essentials.

For my browser I use Firefox with these addons: Webutation, Adblock Plus, Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon, Flash Block, NoScipt, Ghostery.. When Firefox is open select these keys together :- Ctrl - Shift - A that will access Addons manger, this gives access to find addons, use, start, stop or disable those features etc....
Before using NoScript read from this link http://noscript.net/ makes it easy to understand....

I have also just started using CryptoGuard by Hitman Pro, once installed it will protect all Browsers against crypto ransomware infections, is also free. Go to following link for instructions, it will work with the set up I describe above..

http://www.surfright.nl/en/alert/cryptoguard

You may also find the information at the following link very useful:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/foru.../#entry2316629

Back to the PC and its continuing issues, run the following scans and post the logs. If these scans are clean we can discount malware/infection issues.

Please download RogueKiller and save it to your desktop from the following link: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/roguekiller/
  • Quit all running programs.
  • For Windows XP, double-click to start.
  • For Vista,Windows 7/8, Right-click on the program and select Run as Administrator to start and when prompted allow it to run.
  • Read and accept the EULA (End User Licene Agreement)
  • Click Scan to scan the system.
  • When the scan completes select "Report", log will open. Close the program > Don't Fix anything!
  • Post back the report which should also be located here:

C:\Programdata\RogueKiller\Logs <-------- W7/8
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\RogueKiller\Logs <------XP

Next,

Scan with HerdProtect

Please download HerdProtect by Reason Software (portable edition) and save the file to your desktop.

Temporary disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware protection - instructions here.
  • Right-click on icon and select Run as Administrator to install the scanner.
  • It will ask for the location - leave the default one (%ProgramFiles%) or select another, convenient one.
  • Agree to the terms, select Launch herdProtect and click Finish.
  • Click Scan. It may take a while, depending on your system and connection specs. Please be patient.
  • When it finishes click on Save Results.
  • A Notepad with a report should open.

Please include the contents of that report in your next reply.

This type of scan often produces false positives. In any case do not remove on your own any of its findings! Removal will be made after the careful analysis of the scan results.
Upon completion of the cleaning you may remove HerdProtect if you wish so. To do it just delete its directory (chosen by you when installing the tool).

Thanks,

Kevin...

Possible Virus - 3 iexplorer.exe services running

$

I was looking at the resource monitor and noticed several suspicious services running. One of which is the fact that iexplorer.exe has 3 services running and csrss.exe has 2 running. I looked a few up and it seems as though I may have a virus. I have had problems with this computer since I purchased it. It could be possible that a virus was transferred from my old computer. I would appreciate any help with this.

Thanks,
Karen

I have got something into my computer that affects my internet searches as well as my email and it even prevents me from changing my password. Whenever I do not use the Norton safe search box which I get via Google Chrome this "thing" comes on and runs. It is named foreveryboxzip.net. Anyone had this and was able to remove it successfully?
So for the moment I do not use IE where I think the problem initially occured.

Hello. I have a computer issue that has caused the internet to become erratic and odd behavior - slow, windows opening and closing on their own, etc. Here is pc info:

Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 8, 64 bit
Processor: AMD E2-1800 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, AMD64 Family 20 Model 2 Stepping 0
Processor Count: 2
RAM: 3682 Mb
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7340 Graphics, 384 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 453511 MB, Free - 411799 MB; D: Total - 22638 MB, Free - 2751 MB;
Motherboard: Hewlett-Packard, 188B
Antivirus: Windows Defender, Disabled

Here are the steps already taken to try and correct:

1. Tried removing outdated version of Norton antivirus unsuccessfully. Downloaded Avast and did boot scan which shows RAR archived files corrupt. Installed Firefox and began using that browser instead of IE.

2. Ran SpyBot S&D which found 125 problems and fixed.

3. Rebooted and issues still present.

Here are the issues:

1. Home network is erratic. Showing that I'm connected to the server but then homepage won't load, getting message not able to connect to proxy server. After connecting and reconnecting to network several times it will eventually load up pages but only then very slowly. Screen flickers, mouse pointer randomly goes where it wants, etc.

2. PC running very slowly, startup slow. When looking at performance, pc shows using 99% of CPU. Reboot and start over. I ran another boot scan and the Norton RAR corrupted files still being found.

3. Another thing I noticed is that games previously played on FB are now showing a new version of Adobe Flash is needed, but once download it never completes the install.

I ran HiJack This and have the log. Will post if requested.
Any help appreciated.

I think I may have a virus...

Click on this link to download : ADWCleaner Click on ONE of the Two Blue Download Now buttons That have a blue arrow beside them and save it to your desktop. Do not click on any links in the top Advert.

See the screenshot where the proper download buttons are highlighted

NOTE: If using Internet Explorer and you get an alert that stops the program downloading click on Tools > Smartscreen Filter > Turn off Smartscreen Filter then click on OK in the box that opens. Then click on the link again.

Close your browser and double click on this icon on your desktop:

You will then see the screen below, click on the Scan button (as indicated), accept any prompts that appear and allow it to run, it may take several minutes to complete, when it is done, you will get a message saying "PENDING" , Ignore that & click on the Clean button, accept any prompts that appear and allow the system to reboot. You will then be presented with the report, Copy & Paste it into your next post.
Please note: the newer versions of Adwcleaner have a pretty colour display on some versions of windows and slightly different icons. The screenshots are from the older version but are basically the same
