Download attached fixlist.txt file (end of reply) and save it to the Desktop, or the folder you saved FRST into.
NOTE. It's important that both FRST and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

Run FRST and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt) or the folder it was ran from. Please post it to your reply.

Next,

Uninstall the old version of Malwarebytes, if Premiom version ensure to save licence keys....

Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to the following:
  • Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
  • A 14 day trial of the Premium features is pre-selected. You may deselect this if you wish, and it will not diminish the scanning and removal capabilities of the program.
  • Click Finish.
  • On the Dashboard, click the 'Update Now >>' link
  • After the update completes Select > Settings > Detection and Protection > Enable Scan for rootkit and Under Non Malware Protection set both PUP and PUM to Treat detections as malware.
  • Now select > Scan > Threat scan > Scan now
  • When the scan is complete, if there have been detections, click Apply Actions to allow MBAM to clean what was detected.
  • In most cases, a restart will be required.
  • Wait for the prompt to restart the computer to appear, then click on Yes.

When the scan is completed from the main GUI click on History > Application Logs. Find your scan log, the date when run will identify it. Checkmark "select" box > then hit the "view" button. The history log window will open. At the bottom of that window are two options, "Copy to clipboard" and "Export"
Select > "Copy to clipboard" that copies the full log to the windows clipboard, so at your reply you right click into the text field and select "Paste" the log is pasted (copied) to your reply.

Next,

Download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your Desktop.
  • Double click on Adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click on Scan
  • Once the scan is done, click on the Clean button. <<<--- Ensure this option is completed
  • You will get a prompt asking to close all programs. Click OK.
  • Click OK again to reboot your computer.
  • A text file will open after the restart. Please post the content of that logfile in your reply.
  • You can also find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[Sn].txt. Where n in the scan reference number

Next,

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
  • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts. (re-enable when done)
  • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
  • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
  • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
  • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
  • Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.

Next,

Scan with ESET Online Scanner

This step can only be done using Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
Temporary disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware protection - instructions here.
Please visit ESET Online Scanner website.

Click there Run ESET Online Scanner.

If using Internet Explorer:
  • Accept the Terms of Use and click Start.
  • Allow the running of add-on.
If using Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome:
  • Download esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe that you'll be given link to.
  • Double click esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe.
  • Allow the Terms of Use and click Start.
To perform the scan:
  • Make sure that Remove found threats is unchecked.
  • Scan archives is checked.
  • In Advanced Settings: Scan for potentially unwanted applications, Scan for potentially unsafe applications and Enable Anti-Stealth technology are checked.
  • Under “Enable Stealth Technology select “Change” select any extra drives in that window.
  • Click Start
  • The program will begin to download it's virus database. The speed may vary depending on your Internet connection.
  • When completed, the program will begin to scan. This may take several hours. Please, be patient.
  • Do not do anything on your machine as it may interrupt the scan.
  • When the scan is done, click Finish.
  • A logfile will be created at C:\Program Files (x86)\ESET\ESET Online Scanner. Open it using Notepad.
Please include this logfile in your next reply.

Don't forget to re-enable protection software!

Post those logs....

Hi. I'm new to the forum. A couple of days ago I started to notice that whenever I wanted to download a file, my browser hung for a time proportional to the file size, and when the download dialog came up, the file was already downloaded. This was weird enough to make me wonder if something was wrong with my browser or something, then I noticed that on some video websites the video never started to play, no matter how long I waited for it to load. And whenever I mistyped a web page or I clicked on a broken link I get the message in the image I attached.
The message appears in all browsers. I wonder if my computer is infected with some virus. I can still browse the internet but the issue with trying to download a file and not knowing if the transfer has started it's really annoying and I can't watch videos on some sites, neither with flash or html5.

Hello,
I have used adfly for a long time, with a website I designed, but recently when I try to go to the main page adf.ly it redirects to "http://adf.ly/pcQDu" (adfly interstitial advertisement).

I have searched through about:config, I've run a malwarebytes full "threat" scan, found a few "non malicious" things and removed them successfully, but this redirect issue is still ongoing.
Some assistance removing this hijack would be appreciated.

Please see the malwarebytes scan log below:

I really appreciate your reply since my new post keeps being avoided.

Previously and on occasion where we had left off I found programs latching on to my laptop.

I restarted and redid the steps from the beginning that you had given me all the way up to junkware removal tool and posted the results in a new post because I know what the policy is about 45 days and 5 days.

But since no one answered I went back to your last post and did the fixlist and posted the reply.

Well after redoing the above mentioned steps the asian type on the tabs are gone. And the comp is back to normal in speed with the occasional getting stuck when searching. But I'm still afraid that my comp is not protected and if something is lurking in my system because I use it for finances and my atm card had been compromised and was reissued.

Eagerly awaiting for instructions.

I had to reinstall windows (couldn't do security updates. lots of crashes and malware discovered as tip of iceberg) but this ******* came back. In the end it seemed to be in Explorer.exe, Nvidia, and alienware mouse drivers and Onedrive. Roguekiller always finds stuff, as did does Adware Removal etc.

I'll include some logs from the standard tools, Farbar etc.

Thanks. I'm at the end of my rope having had to go through all those damn windows updates etc.

I feel like I've been hacked but scans don't show anything

Hi Holly3278,
The MBAM scan shows the ask toolbar.
It, in turn, downloads various other things, being paid for each, of course.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Download and Run the Farbar Scan Tool
  • Download FRST64 and save to your Desktop.
  • Double click Frst64.exe to launch it.
  • FRST64 will start to run.
    • When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
    • Press the Scan button.
    • When finished scanning, 2 logs will open on your Desktop, FRST.txt and Addition.txt
    • Please post them in your next reply.
If you lose track of them, they will be saved in the same location as FRST64.exe
Feel free to use separate replies if it's more convenient.

Hi there :

What i know.

I have had/maybe still do have a spy program on my laptop.

To the extent that the person spying knew that i had cropped a photo of us using paint program. !!! reading emails / seeing websites visited etc etc

It will most likely be MSPY program doing the damage.

I have been informed that the access from the other "end" has been closed and that I am no longer being spied upon. This is not confirmed.

When I knew I was being spied upon i tried every known anti virus/malware/root killer/etc on the internet. NONE of them found it.

what do i need to do to feel safe using my laptop again.

windows 8 64 bit google chrome gmail please advise what else you need to know.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Choppy sound and slooow loading pages

Hi there,

Several days ago I noticed that videos would have a choppy, static sound and that all webpages load really slow. Something is going on. Yesterday I noticed that it was a bit better. Static was minimal and pages loaded faster, but it's back to it's old tricks again today. I tried to find info about this problem but I am not very computer literate plus I was in the middle of finals and didn't want to do anything that might kill my computer. But now my last essay has been sent and tests are all taken. I am ready to to figure out what is going on and I was hoping for some help from my Tech Guy friends. I did try to update all my drivers and I think I was successful. Some told me that the update was older than the current update so I chose not to install those.

Thanks, in advance.

karrie

Also have choppy sound and running slow on and off

Hi, my computer has been running very slow and freezing often. It does this on a very inconsistent basis, some days are worse than others. The sound can also get very choppy although that is also inconsistent, some days its fine. My computer freezes occasionally but it seems to just run extremely slow, more often than not. It's getting to the point where it's almost too frustrating to use. My local drive says it only has 4.22 GB of free space out of a possible 99.5 GB. I figured this could be a part of the problem but I can't even seem to find what's taking so much space because when I go to my control panel it says my programs are only taking up around 35 GB. I have Norton antivirus and it says my computer is fine and I've run malwarebytes anti-malware scans and cleaned up my computer from that but I'm still experiencing problems. I feel like the main issue is figuring out what's taking up so much space as I hardly run any special programs on my computer as I usually only use it for Microsoft Office and web browsing. If someone could help me out it'd be much appreciated. Here's a log:
