about.blank virus

I have a new wireless laptop computer and basically have been having browser problems since the beginning. I really haven't been able to pinpoint the problem until today. I went to switch to a new website and the page was not loading, but kept flashing back and forth. I did notice that in the address bar was not the site I was switching to but it was about.blank. This has been so frustrating :( . I would really appreciate any help with this :) . I just noticed in the system info below it shows windows defender as disabled. When I bring up windows defender it shows it as being on.
