My 9 year old Son downloaded a game called "Total Domination" and now I have a rootkit virus of some sort, that I cannot get rid of. It's main effect is changing my settings in Firefox, and causing new tabs to pop up when I try to log in to my e-mail. It has also installed 4 unwanted add-ons to Firefox, which I deleted. So far I have run Malwarebytes several times and it has revealed everything from trojan downloaders to rootkit viruses to simple PUPs, which I have quarantined (everything.) Even tried running Malwarebytes in safe mode once, and it found only one PUP on that scan. Interestingly your TSG Sysinfo utility flagged Windows Defender as being disabled, but when I checked it from the Control Panel it appeared to be up and working. Does anyone know what this virus is and the most effective way to get rid of it?
