A friend pinged me because the security I put on his laptop found something. When he sent the message, it showed something put a folder in the C: directory (not a normal place for an app), and it'd had tried to plant a well known trojan pretending to be spyware called Fakesmoke-108. Looking online to see where he might have gotten it (though I already had my guesses, I ended up a a link to this site, where everybody was told to just delete the SWSETUP folder and not worry...it was probably an HP thing. Then the thread was closed, so I couldn't post to warn that was not the case. If you had that in your system , search for the following file:

accelerometerdll,DLL

Since it's normally delivered by a popup scareware or bit about scanning your computer, most people are at least able to figure out where they got it. My friend discovered why the security I put on his pc works: It blocked the needed files from being installed. I left it to allow him to *attempt* to get things, but still block them and save, rather than just delete so he could learn where he used to get these problems.

I wold never have told him to just delete the folder and sleep well.
