Hello, ptichun.

Let's start with a warning.

P2P Warning

I noticed that you have or have had a P2P (Peer-to-Peer) file sharing program on your machine:
  • µTorrent

It is important to stay away from them as they are used to share pirated material. The programs themselves can be safe, but majority of the files shared through them is infected.

Some of things to keep in mind when using P2P programs:
  • Your computer is more likely to get infected with malware, which will result in coming back to our or other forums for help.
  • You may have your important data stolen, including passwords, photos or personal information.
  • You help to share pirated material, which may result in arrest, fines, or even jail time for illegal downloads of copyrighted material.

If I still didn't convince you, please read these short reports about how dangerous it can be to use P2P programs:

Whether you remove them or not is your decision. Though I strongly recommend you to uninstall your P2P programs as they most likely will cause problems in the future.

If you choose not to remove them, please refrain from using them until we are done on cleaning your computer.

Step #1
Enabling System Restore
  1. Click Start>right-click Computer and then click Properties
  2. In the left panel, click System protection. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. Under Protection Settings, select your system disk and then click Configure
  4. Select Restore system settings and previous versions of files and then click OK two times.

Step #2
Uninstall programs

Go to Start Menu>Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall a program (or Control Panel>Programs and Features if using icon view) and remove the following programs:
  • Buzzdock
  • Dolphin Deals
  • Search Protect
  • Software Version Updater
  • StormWatch
  • Wajam
  • WSE_Astromenda

Optional programs to uninstall:
  • µTorrent

Step #3
FRST Fix

I've noticed that you've run FRST from Downloads folder. Please, move it to your desktop.

  1. Download attached fixlist.txt file to your desktop.
    >> fixlist.txt <<
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
  2. Right click FRST.exe on your desktop and click Run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  3. Press the Fix button just once and wait.
NOTE: It's important that both FRST.exe and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.
  4. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  5. When finished, FRST will generate a log on the desktop (Fixlog.txt). Select all (CTRL+A) the content of the log, copy it (CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) it into your next reply.

Things that should appear in your next post:
  • Fixlog.txt log content
  • Please tell me if you have successfully uninstalled all the programs I've asked you to uninstall
  • Please tell me if you still experience popups

Potential Virus/Malware causing slow PC

Hi

In the last few days I have noticed a very obvious change in my PC's performance. It has become slow and clunky, especially whilst using the internet. Loading pages takes up to a minute for basic things like opening a google browser window and then navigating within sites is equally slow. Attempting to watch streaming videos has become almost impossible because it just buffers constantly.

I have also noticed significant lag on opening and viewing other file types, like photo's and video's held on my external drives.

Up until about 10 days ago, I had none of these issues, but my AV (avast free) caught a virus and I removed it, or so I thought. Since then, the problems seem to start, so I think that whatever got into my machine is still there.

I would appreciate your help in reviewing and cleaning my PC.

Thank you.

Hey guys and gals, last night I was unfortunate enough to have someone gain remote access of my computer. Not sure how it happened but it did, I know they at least were able to turn on my webcam (which I immediately unplugged) move my cursor, type, open/close windows, etc.. As far as I know they were just causing hi-jinks. But who knows what they could have gotten a hold of. I did whatever I could to remove them, ultimately re installing my OS. I just want to know if I got rid of them for good, or how I can, any help is appreciated.

Hello, iosandroid.

Quote:

Is it okay to do the scans and copy the logs to a flash drive from the infected computer and post them from another computer? The infected computer's browser is really slow. Or is there a risk of infecting another computer?
You can do it, as long as you protect that flash drive. You can find appropiate instructions below.

I've noticed that you have Spybot - Search & Destroy installed. It is not recommended because of it's poor testing results. I'd recommend you to uninstall it and stick to AVG that you already have.

Please, tell me if the infection is still present after performing the following instructions.

Step #1
USB Drive protection

Note: This step has to be completed on non-infected machine.
  1. Download MCShield to your desktop and double-click it (on Vista and above right-click the file and select Run as Administrator). Leave the default settings during the installation process.
  2. MCShield will run a quick scan and then it's window will appear.
  3. On the left panel select Scanner and then tick Always unhide items on flash drives. Then click Apply.
  4. Now plug in the USB Drive. MCShield will perform a scan on the plugged drive.
  5. Select Logs on the left panel, then click Copy.
  6. Paste (CTRL+V) the result of the scan into your next post.

Step #2
Uninstall programs

Go to Start Menu>Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall a program (or Control Panel>Programs and Features if using icon view) and remove the following programs:
  • Booster Web

Optional programs to uninstall:
  • Spybot - Search & Destroy

Step #3
FRST Fix
  1. Download attached fixlist.txt file to your desktop.
    >> fixlist.txt <<
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
  2. Right click FRST64.exe on your desktop and click Run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  3. Press the Fix button just once and wait.
NOTE: It's important that both FRST64.exe and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

  • MCShield log content
  • Fixlog.txt log content
  • Please tell me if you have successfully uninstalled Booster Web and Spybot - Search & Destroy
  • Please tell me if the infection is still present

Chrome shortcut won't delete and Live Preview won't start

$

Hello, world. I am currently having some issues with my computer, with two pieces of software: Brackets (http://brackets.io/) and Google Chrome. (There may be some other software, but I'll leave that up to you.)

On my desktop, whenever I try to delete the Chrome icon, it always respawns, giving a description of "a description." Also, it gives the file location as being this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --proxy-server=http=127.0.0.1:8877

On Brackets, there is a feature known as Live Preview, which allows me to open and edit my HTML/CSS projects in a Chrome window. However, every time I press the Live Preview button (which looks like a lightning bolt), Chrome will not even start its debug mode to start Live Preview.

A few weeks ago, I installed some software that I thought to be legitimate. I have since uninstalled it, but from what I have gathered (and tried to get rid of with third party software such as Eraser and Revo Uninstaller Portable), the software installed some OTHER software along with the main software, like Booster-Web and PastaLeads.

Please help me get rid of these issues, so that Chrome functions normally again and so that I can use my Live Preview tool again.

Thanks!

As mentioned in the topic, I'm getting repeated prompts to remove 'Ropest.G' or 'Ropest.J', Simda.AT by Microsoft Security Essentials at least once almost every day. Sometimes it's a success, other times MSE tells me that the file 'cannot be found' even when I've clicked on 'remove' the moment I'm notified of it.

Appreciate the help in advance.

I"m not sure where needs to be posted. So for some reason I decided to look around in my system info, and I came across problem devices in the component folder of the hardware resources folder. in there it says that bbnfd_1_10_0_6 this device is not present, is not working properly, ordoes not have its drivers installed. I wasn't sure what this was so I googled it, and according to http://www.herdprotect.com/bbnfd_1_1...a84a3b13d.aspx. It's malware. So I guess my question is if it is malware, how do I get rid of it? SafeSearch Engine Admin. Takeover on my Browser

Hi there, my name is Narsonas, earlier today I attempted to download an "Adobe" PDF reader so I could read a PDF that has a manual I needed to read... that "Adobe" reader turned out to be laced with about 4 different Trojans that Norton was able to block (thank God!) but it also involuntarily installed a hostile search engine called Safe Search that took over my Internet browsers and made it the default search engine. When I uninstalled the program and went into my browser settings to change it back to Google it said that this browser was kept default by the Administrator. BEING the Admin. (i.e. the ONLY person on it) I was quite pissed when even going into the registry and deleting what I could would not fix the issue. I am here pleading for help because I did not ask for this Search Engine, I don't want it, and if the hundreds of other posts about this search engine are correct I fear that my computer will become like my mothers which is full of toolbars and ads popping up all over the place!

That's good to hear that all is well again :)

I'll post my closeout speech now, as it explains how to remove the tools we've used etc. Again, any questions, just ask :)

---------

We have a couple of last steps to perform and then you're all set.

We need to remove the tools we've used during cleaning your machine
  1. Download Delfix from here
  2. Ensure Remove disinfection tools is ticked
    Also tick:
    • Create registry backup
    • Purge system restore

  3. Click Run
The program will run for a few moments and then notepad will open with a log. Please paste the log in your next reply

======================
Also, remove the following from the Desktop, if still there after doing the above:

Security Check
SystemLook
sfp.zip
FRST

==============================

Create Restore Point (Win7/Vista)
  • Select Start > Control Panel then double-click on the System icon in the Control Panel.
  • In the left-hand pane click on the System Protection option.
  • When the Dialog comes up, click on the System Protection tab.
  • Check that the drive letter where Windows is located (usually C:) indicates System protection ON.
(This indicates System restore is turned ON for the Windows drive).
  • Click on the Create button to create a new restore point. In the Name dialog, type a descriptive name and then click on the Create button.

  • Go to Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup
  • It should start straight away, but if you have to select a drive, click on the C-drive.
  • Let it run, and at the end it will give you some boxes to tick.
  • All are okay to enable, then press OK and then Yes to the question after.
  • It will close after its completed.

  • CryptoPrevent install this programme to lock down and prevent crypto ransome ware (download link at bottom of page)

To keep your operating system up to date:

All security updates released by Microsoft must be Automatically Installed.
  • Click Start and in the search box type windows update and press ENTER.
  • Click Change Settings and make sure the Install updates automatically (recommended) option is selected, if not select it and click O.K to save settings.

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free program:
  • SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.

And to keep your system clean run this free malware scannerweekly, and be aware of what emails you open and websites you visit.

Have a safe and happy computing day!

That's good to hear its not appeared, it may have been related to some of the other stuff we removed.

If its all okay, we can remove the tools we've used etc, but I'll wait until I hear from you before I post :)
